Google reviews brought me here and I was honestly so impressed I really want to give credit to Tokyo Maki for the amazing jjampong. I ordered takeaway and for some reason my noodles came in 2 takeaway bowls. I was a little confused at first but as I started eating I understood why — the bowl full of ingredients and noodles were soaking up the soup and so they were considerate enough to provide a separate bowl to top it up. Honestly the portion was huge for the price and it could have fed me for 2 meals and I would still be stuffed. The noodles and broth were nothing like any other jjampong I’ve had — not too salty, not seafoody and really yummy. Not to mention allllll the fresh seafood that they put in.. there was even a crab leg in it?!?? The restaurant is really unassuming along flinder’s street, and authentically run by Koreans. Not sure why Tokyo but perhaps it’s jointly run by Koreans and Japanese. In any case I had a great meal!

The staffs are friendly and the lotus chips appetiser is nice and crispy. The whole food experience we had was enjoyable and delightful, it captured our eye with curiosity looking into every carefully prepared ingredients in the dishes and it sparks a lot of conversation for us. We love the vibe of this place and look forward in returning again.

The food and staff service here was top tier. The meals felt home cooked and the portions were large. Not to mention the waitress was so kind and after I left something behind she ran out of the store to give it back to me. If you're coming out of the aquarium super hungry like I did definitely come here.

The food here is super fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared, and the portions are generous. The restaurant is clean and has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere — perfect for gatherings with friends or family. The owner is very kind and friendly, with excellent service. They took the time to explain the menu and made the whole dining experience really enjoyable. Definitely coming back. A place worth recommending!😻😻😻

This was my childhood’s favourite dish and it tastes exactly the same. So happy that I found this joint! The staff members are amazing too. I’d definitely come back :)

Very authentic japanese /korean fusion feel. If you are a vegetarian or even vegan, this place has more than enough options for you. I had a great time choosing my all veg meal in Japanese flavors! Certainly recommended.

It was amazing experience had dinner in Tokyo Maki. We ordered cheese Dak-galbi. The portion was really big and they gave so much cheese, so it was spicy and creamy and just sooo good. We didn’t even have to order the rice balls separately — they came with the dakgalbi, which made it even more filling. Everyone was super friendly and I honestly can’t wait to come back again 🤍

One of Melbourne's best Korean restaurants. We have been coming here for the past few years, usually at least once a fortnight. Awesome service - the manager/owner Kevin is very friendly and hospitable. Delicious food- some of our favourites include the soft tofu stew, sashimi (very fresh) and my daughter loves the DIY rice balls and katsu. We often get the makeoglli, pairs perfectly with the Kimchi bulgogi pancake. Can't go wrong with any of the dishes here!

My friend and I went to TokyoMaki for dinner just for the dakgalbi, as I had checked the reviews beforehand and the good reviews made me want to try it. So, we ordered dakgalbi with udon noodles, fried rice, cheese, and special soondae (Korean black pudding/sausage). When we asked to add soondae to the dakgalbi, the owner was so surprised that we knew the “secret menu” 🤣 When we were served the dakgalbi, the owner said the chef wouldn’t start making the fried rice just yet because the two of us might not be able to finish all the food. He suggested that we eat first, and if we still wanted fried rice later, we could let him know and he would cook it. He also said it was okay to cancel the order and asked us to try the food first. Then guess what? We finished everything and asked for fried rice with cheese 🤣 We were so happy with the food because it tasted just like authentic Korean dakgalbi in Korea, so we will definitely go back for more❤️
